Nipuna is a dual-trained Sport and Exercise Medicine doctor and GP. He is in training to become a Sport & Exercise Medicine Consultant in the NHS and works as a fully qualified GP and in professional football as the Academy Doctor for Leeds United Football Club. He is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Leeds where he teaches on a MSc course in Sport and Exercise Medicine. He has a research interest in concussion and has published on novel ways to guide the return to sport process following concussion.
Nipuna completed his medical training at the University of Cambridge, gaining a first class intercalated degree in Neuroscience. He has an MSc (with distinction) in Sport and Exercise Medicine from University College London and has completed Membership of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. Outside of work Nipuna is a keen cricketer having played first class professional cricket whilst at the University of Cambridge.
