Dan trained at Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, London and then completed foundation posts and GP training in South Wales. It was here that he became involved in Sports Medicine for the first time, working with Swansea RFC and then Ospreys before gaining the opportunity to become Team Doctor for Wales Women in the Six Nations tournament and Rugby World Cup. He subsequently completed his PG Dip in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Cardiff Metropolitan University and during his time there was Team Doctor for their Women’s Football Team’s Champions League qualifying campaigns in Ukraine and Slovenia.
He is now an Associate GP in a practice in Hampshire that doubles as a Minor Injuries Unit and is the practice lead for musculoskeletal medicine and runs a weekly steroid injection clinic. He also has responsibility for a local care home and participates in the fortnigthly multidisciplinary team meeting to ensure ongoing continuity of care. This is in addition to his role as doctor with Hampshire County Cricket and Harlequins Rugby.
Dan retains a keen interest in football as a former season ticket holder at Liverpool FC in addition to following both codes of rugby, athletics, Formula 1, tennis, although golf is still a work in progress much to the dismay of his fellow GPs!
