Yes. Irrespective of which of Meliora’s services your school or club uses, by being a partner of Meliora Medical, your pupils/players can access the CYSM pathway for any injuries.
No. All pupils at schools using Meliora Medical’s services have access to this pathway at no extra cost.
This is a private healthcare pathway. Cost of care can be covered by health insurance or by self-pay. There is no extra cost over an above these standard fees for accessing the benefits of the CYSM pathway.
No. While all specialists will be used to dealing with elite-level athletes, any active young person is appropriate to refer via the pathway.
While the pathway was set up to treat sports-related problems (eg musculoskeletal issues, concussion etc) there is the ability to refer to any medical specialty via the pathway including, but not limited to, cardiology, respiratory, dermatology, adolescent gynaecology. Once a referral has been made the CYSM team will make contact with whoever is listed as the pupil’s main contact on the same day (for referrals made within working hours). Appointments to see a specialist can be organised within as little as 24 hours.
Yes. For those schools who use Meliora’s physiotherapy service, rehab will be arranged at the school after communication between the specialist and the Meliora Physio.
For other schools, the specialist’s instructions can be shared with a local physiotherapist for ongoing rehab.
Patients can also be seen at Meliora’s central London rehab clinic at 48 Wimpole Street.
The pathway has been designed to make it as convenient as possible for patients travelling some distance to access expert adolescent care. Where possible, consultations, scans and further investigations will be organised on the same day so as to avoid multiple trips.
